MG Windsor EV Proves Its Safety in Major Crash Incident

The MG Windsor EV gained its moment in the headlines once again, this time for an operation criminal prowess in a high-impact crash. Recently, an MG Windsor EV was put through a serious safety test by crashing it at high speed to see how it would hold up and whether or not those features would do their job. Sonu Sood’s wife Sonali Sood is reportedly safe after the horrific incident, where the vehicle was badly damaged. As a result, this incident has initiated some discussions on what could be assumed as the safety capabilities of the Windsor EV and reinstated Windsor’s reputation of it being a safe electric vehicle in India.
With the new MG Windsor, which was released in September, having become the best selling electric vehicle in the country. Built at the JSW MG Motor India plant in Halol, Gujarat, the Windsor has hit a milestone with over 15,000 units produced so far. Its still relatively low price, functional features and solid safety credentials have made them extremely popular. Hailed as a value-for-money proposition for the daily commuter and eco-conscious consumer alike, the Windsor EV has met with an increasing demand for electric vehicles within India.
This particular crash tested the MG Windsor EV’s structural integrity, which stood up to the load of a truck. The hit was so severe that it wrecked the front section of the vehicle, including the bumper, headlights, and bonnet. Yet, vital structural components such as the A-pillar remained sealed, halting the passenger compartment from collapsing. The fact that it remains so tightly contained without immediate life-threatening fuel exposure, speaking to the vehicle’s well built nature from a crash safety standpoint, speaks to an intrinsic ability to at survive very high-speed impacts.
Passenger survival was helped along by a solid range of safety technology that the Windsor EV comes equipped with. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disc brakes, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera are among the car’s features. All of those features work together to help improve driver control, stability and crash protection.
What worked in the favour of MG Windsor EV in India is its combination of affordability, practicality and a long features list. As an affordable electric vehicle, it is aimed at relatively good performance with relatively good economy, making it an ideal vehicle for urban commuters.
An LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery of 38kWh makes up the powerplant of the Windsor. And Works in tandem with a front axle-mounted electric motor producing 136hp and 200Nm of torque. The vehicle gets a claimed range of 331 km on a single charge, which makes it a good choice for city driving. It also has four driving modes — Eco+, Eco, Normal and Sport — that let drivers dial in efficiency and performance according to their needs.
Windsor hits another home run with the EV when it comes to charging. The car also supports 45kW fast charging, allowing the battery unit to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 55 minutes. It also features a 3.3kW and a 7.7kW AC chargers which take 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively to charge the battery to full. These flexible charging options allow owners the convenience to power their vehicles.
Beyond security and efficiency, the Windsor EV comes equipped with a premium-grade and all-in cabin. Its 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Measuring 8.8 inches, the digital instrument cluster provides clear and comprehensive driving information.
Ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof are the highlights of the Windsor’s comfort and convenience features. You can enjoy every ride with the help of a sound system with 9 speakers (Infinity sound system for in-car entertainment).
The MG Windsor EV’s recent crash test results are a strong show of the vehicle’s impressive safety capabilities, adding to an already positive reputation as a value-packed electric car that doesn’t compromise on safety for either the driver or the passengers. Its solid build and a host of cutting-edge safety technologies make it a reliable option in the fast-growing EV segment in India.
With electric vehicles taking off, safety is paramount for many riders. The MG Windsor EV’s ability to survive an impact without harming its occupants is also a key selling point. The Windsor’s rise in popularity and a robust suite of features, alongside impressive safety credentials, ensure that it remains one of the most popular electric cars available anywhere in the country.
So if you’re interested in either replacing your petrol with electricity, the MG Windsor EV looks like an appealing package at competitive pricing, a big driving range, fast charging, and very good safety credentials. Thus whether city commutes or longer drives this EV is a well-rounded and reliable option for Indian consumers.

More players mean more choices, and when companies compete, it usually means better deals and cooler cars for us.

Tata Motors Sets Sights on Dominating 50% of India’s EV Market

A Bold Ambition in a Growing Industry
Tata Motors isn’t just aiming to be in the EV race — they want to lead it. A recent ET Auto report says Tata wants to grab half of India’s electric vehicle market, which is a pretty big deal.
India’s EV scene is growing fast. More people are thinking about electric cars because petrol prices keep climbing, and folks want cleaner air. With all this happening, Tata’s shooting for the top spot, wanting to hold a massive share of the market.
Where Tata Motors Stands Today
Right now, Tata is the go-to name when it comes to EVs in India. The Nexon EV is one of the best-selling electric SUVs in the country. They’ve also got other models like the Tiago EV and Tigor EV that cover different budgets and needs.
But Tata knows it can’t just sit back and relax. Other brands like Mahindra, MG, and Hyundai are also pushing hard. Tata’s got to keep coming up with new stuff and get better if they want to stay ahead.
How Tata Plans to Achieve Its 50% Goal
So, how do they plan to take over half the market? They’ve got a few things lined up:
Expanding Its EV Lineup
Tata’s working on some cool new electric cars like the Harrier EV, Curvv EV, and the fancy Avinya. These options will give customers more choices, whether they prefer something small and practical or large and luxurious.
Building More Charging Stations
One of the biggest worries about EVs is charging. Tata’s working with Tata Power to set up more chargers across cities and towns. The easier it is to charge, the more people will want to buy EVs.
Making Batteries in India
Batteries are the priciest part of EVs, and importing them adds to the cost. Tata wants to make batteries right here in India, which should help bring prices down.
Going After Fleets and Government Buyers
Tata’s not just focusing on people buying cars for themselves. They’re also selling EVs to taxis, delivery companies, and government fleets. That’s a smart move because these buyers buy in bulk.
Challenges Ahead
It won’t be a smooth ride, though. Tata still has some bumps to cross:
- Battery supply might not always keep up with demand.
- Other companies are catching up fast.
- Not all towns have enough charging points yet.
- Convincing people outside cities to switch to EVs takes time.
The Road Ahead
Tata wants to own half of India’s EV market, and while that’s a huge goal, they have the right plan and the brand to pull it off. For buyers, this means better cars and more choices soon. For India, it’s a cleaner, greener future.
